From Gah to Gorgeous! Before and After Designs
Before and After- Interior Design Transformations! Interior Design transforms and breathes new life into spaces where we are spending more time. This is what I love to do. Some of my recent projects have yet to be photographed professionally and many of these pictures were sent to me by the homeowners. Several are full remodels and many are cosmetic updates. Some before and after designs are simply new color schemes with updated finishes. I’d love to share some of these before and after designs with you.
One of my most recent fun updates was strictly a color consultation. The homeowner loved rich vibrant color and was going to paint her walls a bright blue. After considering her fun taste and “funky” style, I suggested she paint her cabinets a rich blue but brighten the walls with a neutral white. Having suggested this, the black counter tops were changed to a neutral white and also the backsplash tile. See the beautiful results for her kitchen and living room.
- Painted Existing Cabinets
- New Quartz Counter tops
- New Backsplash Tile
- New Under and Above Cabinet Lighting
- New Paint for Ceilings and Walls
- New Tile for Fireplace Surround
Because we kept the colorful vibe, but brightened up the entire space these before and after interior design transformations are simply gorgeous and the homeowner is delighted!
Old-Fashioned to Awesome!
Artsy glass mosaic backsplash paired with a unique etched metal insets both in the backsplash and the cabinets were cutting edge design twenty years ago. However, the granite counter top did not complement these materials and the result was too busy for the new homeowners. A more Zen-like approach to fit with their preferred aesthetic set the tone for our selections. In this before and after design, we did not change the footprint of the kitchen which was compact but also unique in layout. Because changing the flooring would have added to the budget as well as the mess, we kept the existing tile floors and based our material options to blend. All in a neutral palette we changed the following:
- New slab porcelain counter tops
- New Frosted glass backsplash tile
- Replaced the etched metal insets in the upper cabinets to match the existing wood
- Painting the black cabinetry in a soft grey to blend more beautifully
- Installed updated undermount sink style
- New energy efficient under-cabinet lighting
Faux to Fabulous
A little used guest bathroom was just screaming for an update. At one time this faux painting technique was high style and quite expensive. However the botanical wallpaper, black counter tops and unsightly floor needed to go. To achieve a bright and cheerful bathroom we kept the vanity but changed the finishes and color scheme. Here’s what is new:
- New Quartz counter top
- Undermount sink and pretty faucet
- New hardware on the freshly painted vanity
- Flooring
- New wood blinds window treatment
- New vanity light
- Replaced Wallpaper with Fresh Paint
Ahhh. Now we can breathe!
Dated to Dazzling
The millennial homeowners have a great sense of style. Furnished with a mid-century flair, the living room is full of color and pizzazz. I was brought in to review their preliminary plans for remodeling the kitchen. Subsequently, we rearranged the layout entirely. A window was replaced and enlarged, a dining island with cook top incorporated with all new cabinets and appliances. This was an extensive remodel but the homeowners did much of the work themselves and I was thrilled when they sent me the after design photos.
Boring to Beautiful
An amazing area rug selection is the foundation for the new color scheme. Transforming this little used space into a cozy TV den started with the design of a new fireplace surround. The beautiful color palette and comfy new furnishings are an invitation to relax.
Awful to Amazing! Before and After- Interior Design Transformations
Lacking natural light, a tiny basement bathroom is updated with new industrial style tile to make a dramatic transformation. A a result, with new lighting, matte black fixtures, a new vanity and a dollop of orange accents, it is now bright and cheery and a perfect spot to shower after a dip in the pool.
Meh to Magnificent!
A compact kitchen in a traditional urban home got the cosmetic facelift it needed by refreshing the finishes.
- Existing cabinets were painted-uppers in white and lowers in a dark grey
- Tile counter tops were replaced with soapstone
- Older sink replaced
- New Rohl faucet adds elegance
- New marble backsplash tile adds interest
- Under cabinet lighting brightens all
- Classy Crystal Hardware
These are just a few of the Before and After- Interior Design Transformations I’ve accomplished this year…helping each client to love where they live just a little bit more. Many were not available for professional photography due to the Governor’s restrictions. I hope to re-visit more projects completed soon! Want to see more before and after transformations?
